Robert Erickson

Robert Erickson, 97, a resident of Fergus Falls, formerly of Rothsay, died Friday, December 17, 2010, at the PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls. Bob Erickson was born on January 7, 1913 in Eagle Bend, MN the son of Joseph S. and Ida (Hooker) Erickson. He attended school in Osakis graduating with the High School Class of 1932. On May 14, 1937 he married Rosina Helmstetter in Alexandria, MN. Through the years Bob has worked as a mechanic, drove bulk gas truck, spent some time working at a defense plant in Minneapolis during the 40s and then returned to the Osakis area where he worked as a farm manager and herdsman. In 1949 they moved their family to Rothsay where he continued working on the farm. Bob began working for the Rothsay School in 1963 and continued there until his retirement in 1981. Bob was a long time member of the Hamar Church and served on the Church Council as well as being involved with 4-H as an adult leader. One of his favorite things in life was fishing (and a little more fishing). He enjoyed woodworking and sharing his handiwork with family members who display his items show-casing his skill.  Bob Erickson was preceded in death by his wife, Arlie in 2007, his parents, two brothers, two sisters, one grandson and a great grandchild. He is survived by his four daughters; Roberta (Ralph) Ouse of Rothsay, MN, Rebecca (Duane) Slusher of Fargo, ND, Ruth (Lorin) Hansen of Rothsay, MN and Roz (Larry) Teberg of Rothsay, MN, 10 Grandchildren, 33 Great Grandchildren, 7 Great Great Grandchildren and a sister, Phyllis Johnson of Moorhead, MN.
