Robert “Bob” Brause, 90, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Monday, May 26, 2014 at the Broen Memorial Home.
He was born August 19, 1923 in Western Township, the son of Raymond Robert and Laura Elizabeth “Beth” (Rufer) Brause. He attended country school through 8th grade. He farmed with his dad until he was drafted into the Army November 15, 1945 thru December 2, 1946, where he was stationed in Lemwerder, Germany. For his service he received a WWII Victory Medal. After discharge from the army he continued farming with his dad.
On July 13, 1947 he was united in marriage to Wilma F. Addicks at Western Presbyterian Church in Western Township. After his father’s death in 1962, Bob and Wilma farmed together and in 1984 they moved to Fergus Falls. Starting in 1970 he worked at White Drug, Elks and Hintgen Karst.
Bob “Muffin Man” enjoyed baking muffins, listening to music, playing bingo and telling great stories. He especially enjoyed telling the story about how he met Wilma while stationed in Germany. He enjoyed doing group crossword puzzles with his friends at the Broen Home along with many other activities. He enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchildren and showing them his baking techniques, reading stories, watching movies and other activities. He was a life member of VFW and Western Presbyterian Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Wilma; daughter, Nancy Kjono; sister, Marcella Ziegel; brothers-in-law, Orv Ziegel and Charles Foss.
He is survived by his daughter, Peggy (Duane) Henry, Duane’s children Erik Henry (Amy Petersen) and Linnea Henry (Lonnie Stundahl); grandson Ty Henry-Holte; son-in-law, Larry Kjono; grandchildren: Arden (Wendy) Kjono: children, Alexandra and Mackenzie Urvand, Elisabeth and William Kjono; Denise Hanson: daughter, Desiree Hanson; sister, Betty Foss. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorials are preferred to Lakeland Hospice.
