Robert "Bob" Skistad

Robert Harold “Bob” Skistad, 67, a resident of Detroit Lakes, formerly of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at his home, under the care of his family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Bob was born on October 19, 1948, to Harold and Thelma (Demmer) Skistad in Fergus Falls. He graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1966. He attended the University of Minnesota. He served in the Army Reserve from 1968 to 1976.

Bob worked at Total Asphalt Co. from 1970 to 1975. On June 24, 1989, Bob married Diane (Sieling) Taisey in Fergus Falls. He farmed from 1975 to 2007 in Aastad Township and when he retired, they moved to their home near Detroit Lakes, MN.

Bob enjoyed playing guitar, listening to country music, and fishing, especially ice fishing. He also enjoyed hunting and loved spending time with his daughters and their families, which included four fun-loving granddaughters. Time spent with his nieces and nephews was also very special to him.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother.

Bob is survived by his wife Diane Skistad of Detroit Lakes; children: Amanda (Billy) Edgar of Gorham, ME, and Rebecca Taisey of New Gloucester, ME; grandchildren: Annika, Julia and Audrey Edgar and Taylor Osgood; his siblings: Roger (Marie) Skistad, Rebecca (Rex) Mudge; his nieces and nephews: Russell (Denee) Skistad and their children Sydney and Charlotte; Jennifer (Travis) Lambert and their children Alexa and Riley; Aaron (Amy) Mudge and their children Rowan and Lucas; Lindsey Mudge (Michael Hull), Jacob Mudge, Alex Mudge, Jason Sieling, Jessica Cave, Joshua Sieling, Candyce (Fred) Penteado, Chris (Stephanie) Sieling, Nick (Andrea) Sieling, Melissa Sieling, Jennifer Sieling, Jeremy (Amy) Sieling; Anthony (Angie) Sieling, Liz (Cody) Sieling- Plant, Lindsay (Drew) Sieling- O’Conner, Miranda (Brandon) Andre; Evan (Danielle) Sieling, Abby Campbell, Karin O’Leary, Michaela O’Leary, and Andrew (Jessica) Curtis.

Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley or the American Cancer Society.

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at the Olson Funeral Home, with a public prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Service: 10:30 AM on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Aastad Lutheran Church in rural Fergus Falls.
