Robert “Bob” Harold Harthun, 82, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Friday, January 6, 2017, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.
Bob was born on June 20, 1934, to John and Clara (Chapman) Harthun, at the home of his grandmother, Laura Chapman in Star Lake Township. He attended country school at District #137. Bob enjoyed hunting deer, duck, and pheasant and snowmobiling, especially with his son, Steven. In his younger years, he worked for several road construction crews, Gladen Brothers of Bemidji, Dieseth Company and Mark Sand and Gravel.
On July 14, 1956, Bob was united in marriage to Constance Teisberg at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. In 1957, he was drafted and opted to join the Army Reserves. He served for six years and was on stand-by for two years. In 1968, the couple started farming in Aurdal Township and in 1992, he was injured in a farm accident which forced him to quit dairy farming. In 1994, Bob started working at StoneL Corporation and worked there until his retirement in 2008.
Robert was a member of Stavanger Lutheran Church. He was a board member of the Underwood Creamery and also an adult 4H leader. Gospel, blue grass and country music brought Bob much joy and entertainment throughout his life. He also loved to travel. His favorite place was Norway, and over the years the he and Connie traveled to Florida, Washington State, Montana, and for their fiftieth wedding anniversary they visited Alaska.
