Richard Stavaas

Richard A. Stavaas, 83, of Fergus Falls, died October 5, 2023, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.

Richard was born September 20, 1940, to Orvin and Ila (Larson) Stavaas in Fergus Falls. He graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1958 and attended Hennepin County Vo-Tech. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He served in the Merchant Marines.

In 1966 Richard married Judy Gooselaw in Minneapolis where they resided. They later divorced and Richard moved to Texas where he was employed selling industrial equipment for the oil fields. After he retired, he returned to Fergus Falls.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, infant brother Jerry and Gary; and sister, Carol.
Richard is survived by his sister, Sherry (James Marshall) Tucker of Arkansas; daughter, Laurie (Kip) Monson of Columbus, MN; six nieces and nephews, along with numerous cousins.

Private family services were held.
Burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN
