Richard Alfred Ouren, 83, a resident of Rothsay, died Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.
He was born March 25, 1936, on the family farm in Erhards Grove Township, the son of Alfred and Clara (Johnson) Ouren. He attended District 278 through 6th grade and then attended Pelican Rapids High School, graduating in 1954.
On August 10, 1957, Richard and Beverly Landmark were married in Benson, MN. They lived on the family farm, farming the land until 2015, when his health started becoming an issue. They were active in dairy farming until 1989 and raised feeder cattle for several years, along with raising grain and hay. Richard also sold Zero and Clay equipment.
He was in the Army Reserve for 6 years, served on the Erhard Creamery board, was a member of the Erhard Elevator and belonged to the Grace Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He enjoyed fishing, with trips to Canada, and enjoyed many years at Long Lake with family gatherings all year round.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his mother and father in law, Irving and Bertha Landmark; and sisters-in-law, Shelby Giese and LoAnn Vickerman.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly; children, Renae (Dan) Froslie of Rothsay, Paul (Steph) of Brainerd, Todd (Betty) of Mankato, and Nathan (Kris McCann) of San Diego, CA; grandchildren Derek (Sara) Froslie, Brian (Katie Raasch) Froslie, Andrea Froslie, Sara (Scott) Clifton, Ben (Arielle Davidson) Connoy, Chelsea (Leo) Wittner, Ken (Julieth Rojas) Ouren, Eric (Laura) Ouren, and Matthew (Elena Gottlick) Ouren; great-grandchildren, Emma and Addisyn Froslie, Cedar, Treg and Hanna Clifton and Leo Wittner; sisters, Arlene (Lester) Duenow of Fergus Falls and Joanne (Wayne) Roisum of Erhard; sisters and brothers-in-law, Myrna Noyed (Rod Larson) and Marlene (Jim) Rohne, along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 6:30 at Grace Lutheran Church, Erhard and will resume one hour prior to the service
Service; 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at Grace Lutheran Church, Erhard
