Richard James Martinson, 71, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, December 10, 2017, at his residence.
Richard “Rick” was born on October 9, 1946, to James Hansford and Evelyn Norma (Hawley) Martinson in Fergus Falls. Rick was baptized and confirmed at Hamar Lutheran Church. He grew up and attended school in Rothsay, graduating in 1964.
On October 31, 1970, Rick married Sheila Colwell at Hamar Lutheran Church in Rothsay. The couple resided in Fergus Falls where Rick was employed by Mark Sand & Gravel, co-owner of Champ’s Shoes, and Productive Alternatives where he retired after 35 years as a Production Manager.
Rick enjoyed deer hunting in South Dakota, fishing trips with family and friends, and living at Wall Lake where he met life-long friends. He was also a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Tom Fosse.
Survivors include his wife Sheila Martinson of Fergus Falls; children, David Riedel of Fort Dodge, IA, Dan (Cheryl) Riedel of Foxhome; grandchildren, Eric Riedel, Andrew Riedel, Brandon Standy, Beau Lawrence; niece, Teresa (Steve) Lewis and nephew, Brian (Angie) Fosse.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls
Clergy: Reverend Chris Eldredge
Interment: At a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery, Fergus Falls
