Richard D. Hunter, 76, of Underwood, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015.
Richard Duane Hunter was born on November 28, 1938, in Fargo, ND, to Kenneth and Iris (Jones) Hunter. As a young boy, the family relocated to the family farm in rural Underwood. He attended country school and graduated from Underwood High School.
He moved to the twin cities and worked in the construction trade. He was self-employed as a carpenter and moved back to the Underwood area in his retirement.
Richard had a big heart and was always helping others, even when it caused him physical pain. He loved his dogs and always put them first. He was a fisherman, carpenter, hunter and practical joker. Richard had a great sense of adventure and a dry sense of humor that we will all miss.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Iris Hunter; a sister, Barb Hanson; two brothers, Raymond and Neil Hunter; and a step-son, Jeremiah “Jay” Christ.
He is survived by his life companion, Brenda Christ of Underwood; his children, Brenda (Jerry) Vogt of Burnsville, Darrin Hunter of East Bethel, Gina (Mike) Jaenisch of Ashby, Dannette (Tim) Sandbakken of White Bear Township, Shawn Hunter of Coon Rapids and Julie (Chad) King of Underwood; ten grandchildren, Andrena Vogt, Danielle Hunter, Colten Hunter, Jake Jaenisch, Aiden Sandbakken, Devon Sandbakken, Anders Sandbakken, Maddie Hunter, Amy King and Travis King; and numerous nieces and nephews.
