Richard “Dick” C. Burns, 79, formerly of Underwood, Minnesota, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St. Edmunds, United Kingdom.
He was born on the farm near Walcott, North Dakota on September 5, 1933. He grew up on the farm and attended school in the Colfax school system.
On January 17, 1952 he married Charlotte Forness. They later moved to the Fergus Falls, Minnesota area. Dick worked for Minnesota Valley Breeders for several years. Later they owned and operated the Twin Pines Resort for 31 years. They lived in Underwood, Minnesota until 2010 when they moved to Lakenheath Village, England to live with their daughter, Barbara McCoard. Dick had many setbacks in his health during his time in England. He passed away after a short illness just a few weeks before he was to return to the states.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Charlotte, on January 1, 2011, a son, Dana, a grandson, Dylan Burns, and brothers-in-law Gerald and Ron Forness.
Survivors include his daughter, Barbara (Zlotto) McCoard of England, and sons, Terry of Tucson AZ, Robin (Jane) of Fergus Falls MN, and Jody of West Fargo ND; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters Oryce (LeRoy) Carlson, Fargo, and Ann Marie (Dale) Current of Moorhead; brother, Vern (Gayle) Burns of Detroit Lakes MN; brother-in-law Allen (Phyllis) Forness, Fargo; sisters-in-law Shirley Forness of Washington State and Carol Browne of California; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the at the church.
Service: 1 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Tingvold Lutheran Church, rural Underwood

Interment: Tingvold Cemetery, rural Underwood MN
