Reuben Dow

Reuben C. Dow, 81, a resident of rural Rothsay, died Saturday June 21, 2008, at the St. Francis Health Care Campus of Breckenridge after a long battle of heart disease. Reuben was born on April 21, 1927 in Wilkin County, the son of William and Martha (Hass) Dow.  He lived his entire life in Wilkin County. He married Ruth Paler on November 4, 1955 at Hamar Church. Reuben farmed, baled hay and loved to fish and hunt. He was a township Assessor for 32 years and was a township treasurer for 15 years. He was a life long member of Hamar Lutheran Church. Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Marcella Neumann and three brothers, Ernest, Clifford and Lawrence. Survivors include his wife, Ruth of rural Rothsay; two sisters, Eleanor (Roger) Wagner of Barnesville, Rosemary (Leonard) Hatlestad of Fergus Falls; one brother, Orville (Roberta) Dow of Perham; two sisters-in-law, Anna Dow of Rochert and Marlene Terfehr of Breckenridge; one brother-in-law, James Neumann of Rothsay and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Grina Funeral Home of Rothsay, with a public prayer service at 7:00 and resumes one hour prior to the services at the church. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the New Life Lutheran Church – Hamar building of Rothsay, with the Rev. Paul Huso officiating.  Burial will be in the Hamar Cemetery. The Grina Funeral Home of Rothsay is in charge of the arrangements.
