Retta Ann Leckey, 85, of Fergus Falls, died peacefully with family nearby on Friday, July 28, 2017, at PioneerCare Center after a brief illness.
She was born on May 16, 1932, the daughter of Clive and Pauline (Quisenberry) Reynolds, in Bloomington, IL.
Retta graduated from Washington High School in Washington, IL in 1950, and then spent two years at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL.
On December 27, 1952 Retta was united in marriage to William B. Leckey Sr. in Washington, IL. In 1981, they moved to Fergus Falls where she was employed in the administrative and business offices at both Fergus Motors and Herbergers.
Retta’s deep compassion for animals was reflected in her long-term involvement with the Humane Society of Otter Tail County. She enjoyed children and was an avid reader, volunteering her time at Adams Elementary School as a reader/tutor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William on February 21, 2017; parents, Clive and Pauline Reynolds; parents-in-law, William and Irene Leckey; sister and brother-in-law, Jo and Bud Schafer; and brother-in-law, Edward Schewe.
Survivors include her son, William (Carolyn) Leckey of Woodbury; sister-in-law, Maureen Schewe; nieces and nephews, Sue (Wayne) Van Der Naald, Bob (PG) Schafer, Jim (Lauren) Schafer, Lynne (Tom) Brzezenski, Bob (Kristin) Schewe, John Schewe, Ed Schewe, and extended family, the Steve and Kristi Lausch family, Jim and Jackie Ivers, Jill Fowler and Cody Saunders, and Joe and Roberta Mahunik.
Memorials may be directed to the Humane Society of Otter Tail County and LB Hospice of Fergus Falls.
Visitation: 5-7 PM Monday, August 7, 2017, at the Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls
A Celebration of Life Prayer Service: 6:30 PM Monday, August 7, 2017 at the Olson Funeral Home Chapel.

A private interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date
