Rebecca Amundson

Rebecca "Becky" Amundson 64, of Fergus Falls, met her Savior, Jesus Christ, face to face on September 3, 2024, at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND and what a day it was for Becky!

Becky was born October 17, 1959 in Pelican Rapids, the daughter of Eugene Wesley and Avis (Halbakken) Nelson. On April 16, 1972, her father Wesley married Kathryn Doebbert and together they created a new family. She attended Rothsay Public Schools and graduated in 1977.

On March 8, 1980, Becky married Kent Amundson in Rothsay at the Rothsay Baptist Church. Becky became a mother on September 4, 1993, when her beautiful daughter, Britta was born. Becky loved being a mother as it was a dream fulfilled for her and Kent.

Becky babysat for Zachary and Kelsey Fjestad for many years, was an education paraprofessional in the Rothsay Public Schools, and later worked at Morning Son Christian School while her daughter attended school there. She also worked at Pioneer Care for a short time and Welander Jewelers

She was a lifelong member of the Rothsay Baptist Church where she was very active and had a special love for Vacation Bible School. She loved calligraphy, quilting and hardanger (Norwegian embroidery). Most of all she loved spending time with her family and especially her two grandsons, Brock and Iver. You could always expect the aroma of apples and cinnamon when you entered her welcoming home. For the past year, Becky lived at LB Broen Memorial Home. She loved the staff at Broen and they took wonderful care of her while she resided there.

Preceding her in death was her mother, Avis (Halbakken) Wahl; father, Wesley Nelson; grandparents, Steen and Bertha (Western) Nelson and Selmer and Ida (Lien) Halbakken.

Survivors include her husband, Kent Amundson of Fergus Falls; daughter, Britta (Partner, Mason Finamore) of Fergus Falls; grandsons, Brock Dennis and Iver Amundson both of Fergus Falls; mother, Kathryn Nelson of Fergus Falls; sister, Sandy (Kevin) Linn of Belle Plaine. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Rothsay Baptist Church in Rothsay, MN with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
