Raymond “Ray” Eugene Mensinger, 90, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, November 14, 2010, at the Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. He was born December 2, 1919 in Rice, Minnesota the son of Barton and Edna (Hummel) Mensinger. He grew up on the family farm near Mahnomen, and attended school in Waubun, Minnesota. Ray served in the U. S. Army stationed in Alaska during World War II. He was discharged in 1945 with the rank of Supply Sergeant. He met Agnes Bobik, and they were married February 14, 1946 in Gary, Indiana. The couple moved to Fergus Falls where Ray was employed at the Fergus Falls State Hospital as a Psych Tech, and later at Hintgen-Karst. After his retirement he did custodial work for Our Lady of Victory School, and did grounds maintenance at St. Otto’s Cemetery. Ray was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the VFW, American Legion, and Eagles. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, and traveling to numerous church festivals and dinners. Ray had a God-given talent to visit with people and enjoy life. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Agnes in 2001, and his son, Greg, in 2006. Survivors include his son, Brian Mensinger and his companion Vicky Anderson of Fergus Falls; his grandson, Aaron (Sarah) Mensinger of St. Louis, MO; his great-grandson, Andrew Gregory Mensinger; and his special lady friend, Mary Jensen, of Fergus Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2010, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls, with Father Greg Paffel officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m., and rosary at 7 p.m., and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. Otto’s Cemetery in Fergus Falls with military participation by the Fergus Falls VFW and American Legion. Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to OLV Catholic School.
