Randale Gene “Randy” Muchow, 64, a resident of Barrett, died Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Lake Region Healthcare.
Randy was born October 1, 1952, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the son of Sanford (Sam) and Mary (Thom) Muchow. He was baptized and confirmed at First United Church of Christ in Fergus Falls. In 1971, he graduated from Roosevelt High School in Fergus Falls.
He served in the Minnesota National Guard for 27 ½ years, retiring in March 1999 at the rank of Sergeant First Class (SFC).
On November 17, 1973, he married Nancy Nordquist in Elbow Lake. One son, Jason, was born to them.
In May of 1981, he married Becky Laber. One daughter, Sarah, was born to them.
Randy was employed at the Fergus Locker from 1967-1972, at which time he began a career as a machinist at Braun’s Machine and continued at King’s Machine until 1987 when he moved to Barrett, Minnesota. He was then employed for 28 years at Barrett Automatic until his retirement on October 1, 2015. He also worked part-time at the Dean Sternhagen farm in the springtime and autumn during both his employment and retirement years. For 20 years, he also served the city of Barrett as a volunteer fireman.
His hobbies were deer hunting with his dad and family members and pheasant hunting in South Dakota with his son, Jason.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, and brother, Brad.
Survivors include his son, Jason (Linda) Muchow of Alexandria; daughter, Sarah Muchow (Keith) of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Maria, Blaine, and Kenzie; his parents, Sam and Mary Muchow of Fergus Falls; three brothers, Greg (Linda), Russ (Tracy), and Barry (Sara) all of Fergus Falls; two sisters, Linda (Bob) Kidder of rural Erhard, Pam (Daryl) Hanson of Fergus Falls; fourteen nieces and nephews; twenty-nine great nieces and nephews; and one great-great nephew.
