Ramond Harthun, 76, a resident of rural Dent; died Monday, July 1, 2019, at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center in Battle Lake, MN.
Ramond John Harthun was born October 5, 1942, to John and Clara (Chapman) Harthun in Fergus Falls. He grew up in Star Lake Township, attended high school in Pelican Rapids.
He served for the U.S Navy from 1962-1965, on the USS Kaskaskia ship. He was in Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
On January 28, 1972 he married Judy Kugler in Fergus Falls. To this union they had three sons, Vance, Trent, and Trevan. Ray was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Friberg Township.
Ray was a Jack of all Trades and held numerous jobs throughout his life. Some of which included road construction, carpentry, truck driving, and also working for the Star Lake Township. The occupation he enjoyed most was farming.
He loved hunting and fishing with his children and grand-children, snowmobiling and four-wheeling. He loved his dogs and brought them everywhere he went. His favorite music was Classic Country and Blue Grass. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Preceding him in death are his parents; 2 brothers, Robert Harthun and Ronnie Harthun; brothers-in-law, DeWayne Collins and Darrel Kugler; sister-in-law, Connie Harthun and father-in-law, Ormon Kugler.
Ray is survived by his wife, Judy of Dent; his children, Vance (Heidi) Harthun of Dent, Trent (Carrie) Harthun of Fergus Falls, Trevan (Naomi) Harthun of Underwood; Grandchildren, Elizabeth Harthun of Fergus Falls, Laranda and Kendra Harthun of Dent, Brianna Harthun (fiancé Mitch) of Moorhead, and Tristan Harthun of Fergus Falls, Kaiden, Elsie and Clara Harthun of Underwood; great-grandchild, Ann Harthun; siblings, Lila Collins of Dent, Lorna (Vernon) Hagerup of Pelican Rapids; sister-in-laws, Kathy Harthun of Dent), Connie (Jerry) Nelson of Detroit Lakes; mother-in-law, Elsie Kugler of Fergus Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service: Saturday, July 6, 2019, 11:00am at Messiah Lutheran Church rural Underwood
Visitation: Friday July, 5, 2019 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm with a 6:30 pm prayer service at Messiah Lutheran Church. Visitation will resume 1 hour prior to the service.
