Ramona Darling

Ramona Darling, 65, a resident of Campbell and formerly of Foxhome, died from cancer on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at her daughter’s home under the care of her family, Dr. Tate, and St. Francis Riveredge Hospice. She was born November 25, 1944, in Bloomington, Minnesota, the daughter of Ellis and Emaline (Christensen) Halgrimson. She attended elementary school in Palisade, MN and Bloomington, and graduated from Eden Valley High School in 1962. She later attended Brainerd Vocational College, graduating with an accounting degree in 1988. She was employed over the years at Hamm’s Creamery in Palisade as a bookkeeper, with Osvold Construction in Emily, MN, as a bookkeeper/accountant, with Universal Pensions and Bisys in Brainerd as a data entry specialist, and was the owner of Darling Candles and Gifts in Brainerd. She became disabled in 2003. Ramona was a member of the Humane Society, ASPCA, and the Christian Children’s Fund. She enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, canning, and spending time with her animals. Preceding her in death were her father, Ellis Morris Halgrimson, and a niece, Melissa Christine Hagen. Survivors include her children: Michael John Darling of Rush City, MN, Christina L. (Nathan A.) Hjelmberg of Buffalo, MN, Robert Thomas Darling of Duluth, MN, and Danielle Lynn (Isaac Allen) Jensen of Campbell, MN; her grandchildren: Anthony John Helmberg, Walker Paul Hjelmberg, Holly Amara Hjelmberg, Isabella Joy Hjelmberg, Elizabeth Marie Ortman, and Hazel Lee Jensen; two step-grandchildren, Zachary Ryan Stenger and Nova Liane Kilbourne; her mother, Emaline Halgrimson of Alexandria; two sisters, Gayle (Larry) Brynjulfson of Osakis, and Susan Hagen of Alexandria, and many cousins and nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of arrangements.
