Ramona “Penny” Viola (Wellbrock) Agar, 68, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Sandford Medical Center, Fargo, ND, as a result of many medical issues she had been battling over the years. Penny was born on April 10, 1950, to Evelyn and Dennis Wellbrock at Fergus Falls Lake Region Hospital. Penny spent much of her youth working on their family farm with her sisters, Sharon, Mardelle, Cindy and Debbie. Penny met her future husband, David, while attending college at the Fergus Falls Community College. Penny married David Agar, Sr. on July 8, 1972, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Davey, Tammy, Stacey, and Shawn.
Penny worked for many years at the Fergus Falls Community College as the cook and enjoyed her time immensely with all the students there. She later worked at the Lake Region Halfway House, Big Chief, Mill Street Residence, and several senior citizen’s centers in Wheaton, Fergus Falls, Battle Lake, and other area places cooking. Penny loved meeting new people and getting to know them. Penny became fast friends with those she encountered.
In her spare time, Penny loved to play poker with all of her friends, going to the casino, dining out, fishing, pontoon rides and spending time at Ten Mile Lake resort. Penny and David camped at Ten Mile Lake Resort for over 20 years, and she loved all the family time she was able to spend there. Above all else, Penny relished in the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren. You would be hard pressed to speak with her, and not hear prideful stories of Madelyn, Ryker, and her new grandchild coming in July. Penny beamed with glee whenever she saw them, and they loved her just as much.
Penny had a great sense of humor, showed great kindness and empathy for others, enjoyed the company of others, and loved to laugh and have a good time. She instantly made you feel welcome, no matter who you were. Family and friends were very important to her, and she wanted all around her to know she cared. She will be deeply missed.
Penny is preceded in death by her husband, David; father, Dennis Wellbrock; father and mother-in-law, Dwayne “Dan” and Agnes “Peg” Agar; sister-in-law, Kathy Agar; brothers-in-law, Fr. Thomas Agar, Dennis Johnson and Joseph Mauer.
She is survived by her four children, Dave Agar of Fergus Falls, Tammy (Troy) Bauer of Fergus Falls, Stacey (Tom Schmidt) Agar of Fergus Falls and Shawn Agar of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Madelyn Bauer, Ryker Schmidt, baby Schmidt, and step-grandchild, Treton Lureen-Schmidt; step-great grandchild, Rayland Lureen- Schmidt; mother, Evelyn Wellbrock; sisters and brother-in-law, Sharon Mauer, Mardelle (Dale) Jacobson, Cynthia Johnson and Deborah Wellbrock; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis (Peg) Agar, Richard Agar, Rev.
