Ralph "Pete" Harthun

Ralph “Pete” Harthun, 94, of Dent, MN died Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Hadley House in Perham, MN.

He was born September 11, 1924, to Reinhold and Juanita (Zitek) Harthun in Dent. He attended country school near Dent. On August 29, 1945, he was united in marriage to Irene “Sally” Fiedler at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dent.

Pete was a farmer for most of his life. In addition to farming, he was employed with Bud Lee Farm near Foxhome, National Tea Packing Plant in Fergus Falls, Stan Morrill Construction, MN Motors, H & R Construction, and a handyman at Kimp’s Kamp south of Dent. He was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dent. His passion was woodworking and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irene “Sally”; daughter, Colette Kilde; son, Marvin Harthun; sister, Alice Bond; brothers, Reinhold Jr., Floyd “Jim”, Lloyd “Hoppy”; grandson, Jonathon Harthun; in-laws, Con and Sophia Fiedler; sons-in-law, Jeff Kilde, David Thompson; sisters-in-law, Bernice Waldorf, Helen Waldorf, Deloris Fiedler, Marlene Fiedler, Betty Fiedler; brothers-in-law, Jim Bond, Lawrence Fiedler, Buster Fiedler, Stanley Kidder, Bill Peterson, Ben Warzecha and Joe Waldorf.

Pete is survived by his children, Marian (David) Thompson, Peg (Greg) Meyer, Barb (Marvin) Harthun, Doug (Judeen) Harthun, Julie (Gaylon) Bakken; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dent, MN with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
