Phyllis Jean Engen, 88, formerly of Fergus Falls, died Friday, March 31, 2017, at St Gerard’s Community of Care in Hankinson, North Dakota.
Phyllis was born on March 31, 1929, in Girard Township, Minnesota, the daughter of Eugene and Flora (Whiting) Dobbs. She grew up in rural Henning and graduated from Battle Lake High School. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
On June 9, 1948, she married W. W. “Bud” Engen in Henning. The couple lived in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, and Enderlin, Tower City, Hankinson and Jamestown, North Dakota through the years.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran church in Fergus Falls. She enjoyed crocheting, bowling and spending time with family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Bud, and her brother, David Dobbs.
Survivors include her children, Peggy (John) Pepsin of Moorhead, Penny (Charles) Krause of Hankinson, North Dakota, and Steven (Lisa) Engen of Kearney, Nebraska, her sister, Kathy Hiemstra of Byron; fourteen grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren and her special friend, Marvin Hanson of Rollag.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
