Phyllis B. Anderson, 90, of Fergus Falls died peacefully on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Mill Street Residence in Fergus Falls.
She was born on September 16, 1922, in Friberg Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota, the daughter of Fred and Clara (Anderson) Muchow. Growing up with her six brothers and sisters she attended rural school in District 161. Phyllis was baptized and confirmed at Tonseth Lutheran Church.
Prior to marriage Phyllis worked at the Region Treatment Center in Fergus Falls. On August 23, 1944, she married Lyle C. Anderson in Moorhead. The couple resided in Crookston for a short time before moving to the home farm, where for nine years they raised sheep and chickens. In 1956, they started a family construction business, Anderson Bros Construction Company, along with their partners DuWayne and LaVerne Anderson. Thereafter, they made their home in Fergus Falls. Over the years, Phyllis spent time serving on the Board of Directors. After her husband’s death, she lived independently the last twenty years at her home on Highway Terrace. In November this past year she moved to Mill Street. Her short stay at Mill Street was filled with contentment, peace and good times.
Phyllis was an active, lifetime member of Tonseth Lutheran. She also served as a Blue Bird and Campfire leader and volunteered at both Lake Region Hospital and Mill Street Residence. Phyllis enjoyed anytime she could visit with family, friends and neighbors. She made new friends easily. She took great pride in her home and was a wonderful homemaker, always homemade goodies and a cup of coffee. She spent her summers on beautiful Heidelberger Lake where there was always a family gathering and a lot of food.
Her greatest joy was her grand boys and great grandchildren. She savored the times she could rock and sing them to sleep. She had a thankful heart for all the many ways they blessed her life. Simple gifts from God made her happy, the beauty of a morning sunrise, an evening sunset and her beautiful fall maple trees.
Survivors include her daughter, Jan (Dennis) Trosvig, Ottertail, three grandsons, Tom (Jeani)Trosvig and Michael Trosvig of Fergus Falls and Jon (Jess) Trosvig of Mendota Heights, six great-grandchildren, Madeline, Annie, Tessa, Amelia, Anders and Mac Trosvig; sisters Irene Leeman and Norma Thom; and brother Sanford (Mary) Muchow all of Fergus Falls. Other survivors include sister-in-laws Laverne Anderson, Valdine Haugen and Donna Anderson, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
