Pearl Isabelle Wilson, age 91, of Fergus Falls died Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. A graveside service will take place this spring at the Egeland Union Cemetery in Egeland, North Dakota. Pearl was born on November 28, 1917 in Clyde, North Dakota the daughter of William and Georgia (Winter) Wilson. She received her Second Grade Professional Certificate to teach in July of 1944 from the State Teachers College in Minot, North Dakota. Later she received her B.A. degree and certificate in teaching from Valley City State College in Valley City, ND. She taught in several North Dakota schools including Rock Lake, Clifford, Gardner, Tower City, and Fargo. Her last sixteen years of teaching (1967-1983) were in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, where she taught first grade at McKinley Elementary School. Her expertise in teaching first grade reading was acknowledged while working in Fargo as colleges in the Fargo-Moorhead area sent students to observe her teaching methods. Pearl was a long time member of First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Georgia Wilson. Survivors include her sister, Evelyn Cameron of Seattle, Washington; nieces, Margaret Cameron of Renton, Washington and Judy (Cameron) Short of Huntington Beach, California; nephews, Ron Cameron of Scottsdale, AZ, and John Cameron of Sedona, AZ; a step-sister, Emily Lee Baker of Baltimore, MD, as well as many cousins including Delores Sandbeck of Fargo.
