Pauline M. Stone, 97, a resident of Rothsay, died Thursday, July 31, 2008, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. She was born December 7, 1910, in Richardton, North Dakota, the daughter of Emil and Mary (Manshos) Holubok. She grew up in the Bismarck, North Dakota area, graduating from Dickinson State with a teacher’s degree. She furthered her education at Mary’s College in Bismarck. Pauline taught at country schools and later at St. Mary’s in Bismarck until her retirement. In 1939 Pauline married L. Leonard Stone in Dickinson. The couple owned and operated a grocery store in Dickinson, and then Minot, and later the Gas Company in Bismarck. Pauline moved to Rothsay in 2006. Pauline was a volunteer at the St. Alexius Hospital, and belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary in Bismarck. She loved to bake and was known for her candy, and also loved to travel. She will be remembered as a kind and generous person. Her husband, Leonard, preceded her in death in 1971, as well as eight siblings. Survivors include three siblings, Antonia King of Dickinson, ND, Ann Dochow of Fargo, ND, and Don (Marlys) Holubok of Rothsay, and numerous nieces and nephews.
