Paul Roy Richards, age 93, a long time Dent, MN area resident, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at his home under the care of Lakeland Hospice, with his loved ones at his side.
Paul was born on July 30, 1922, to Francis and Harriet (McRoberts) Richards near Herman, MN. He was the 10th child in a family of eleven children.
Paul served in the US Navy and was stationed in the Philippines during WWII. He married Dorothy Bernice Coleman on November 27, 1946, and they made their home on a farm in the Herman area. They moved to the Dent area in 1957, to continue farming and raise their family.
Paul was an entrepreneur always looking for new adventures and coming up with new ways of doing things. He was not afraid of hard work and taught his children the value of working hard and that work can be fun.
He loved his children and grandchildren. His time with them was priceless and brought out the kid in him. He thoroughly enjoyed the family gatherings, where five generations would often gather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Harriet Richards; his siblings; and two grandchildren, Christina and Scott.
Paul is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy Richards of Dent; his children, Paulette (Ray) Hoebelheinrich of Fergus Falls, Pat (Bob) Waldorf of Perham, Bonnie (Bill) Novacek of Dent, Paul Richards of SD, and Marilyn (Bob) Bolland of Henning; his 12 grandchildren, Jerry (Leah), Rhonda (Curt), Kristy (Brian), Kristopher (Amy), Karla (Tim), Angie (Jerry), Chad, Paul (Lori), Andrea (Joe), Brian, Mark (fiancée Dani), and Andy; 29 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation: 5:00-7:00 PM on Sunday, December 20, 2015, at St. James Catholic Church in rural Underwood with prayer service at 6:30 PM and one hour prior to the service
