Paul Beck

Paul Wayne Beck, 73, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Monday, October 4, 2010, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.  He was born August 21, 1937, in Spooner, Wisconsin, the son of Henry H. and Ida Faye (Boston) Beck. After high school, he spent the next twenty years serving our country in the U.S. Army where he traveled all over the world including Germany, Taiwan, Okinawa, Turkey, and Korea. For his outstanding service in the military he received many honors including an Army Commendation Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), a Good Conduct Medal (1-5), and an Expert Badge (rifle M-14). On February 20, 1965, he was married to Jolene Triepke in Crandon, Wisconsin by Pastor Johnny Cash. After their marriage they went to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. A year later, they went to Taiwan.  He later worked for Kmart, Pat Hanley, and Central Bi-Products. Following his retirement he got throat cancer in 1980, but he didn’t let that stop him from going back to work or doing anything else he wanted to do. Paul was a proud member of the VFW, and AA, and also the Eagles and Laryngectomee Club (Tri-state area for throat cancer), serving as president for 17 years. He loved to bowl and barbeque outside. Preceding him in death were his parents, Henry Beck, and Orlie and Ida Spencer; two sisters: Edna May (Sam) Hartman, and Marieta (Paul) Seboic; brother, Ray Beck; and stepbrothers: Don Spencer, Earl (Eileen) Spencer, and Paul (Rhoda) Spencer. Survivors include his wife, Jolene of Fergus Falls; his children: Paula Jo Beck of Fergus Falls, Darla Beck of Dalton, Wanda (Leland) Kvamme of Chippewa Falls, WI, and Kelly Robinson of Houghton, MI; seven grandchildren: Katie Beck, Tana Beck, Curtis Beck, Jessie Beck, Cody Munsterman, Dakota Knaack and Kaj Harder; a great-grandson, Kaidyn Stewart; and two stepsisters: Wanda Krabbe and Patsy Bonack.
