Patty Jean Anderson, 70, of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, February 5, 2017, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.
Patty was born on July 13, 1946, to David and Marjorie (Neumann) Bogie in Glenwood, MN. She graduated from Glenwood High School and after graduation she attended Moorhead State University, where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree and her Master’s Degree, both in Education.
On August 22, 1986, Patty was united in marriage to Paul “Buzz” Anderson in Fergus Falls. She began her career as a grade school teacher in the Fargo/Moorhead area and later moved to Fergus Falls, where she was the Manager of Educational Services for Lakes Country Service Cooperative. After her retirement, Patty continued to work as an advocate in the area of poverty education, speaking to different community organizations and colleges. She was also instrumental in the development of the local spelling bee and the Fast Forward Reading Program.
Patty was the former President of the AAUW and a volunteer at Lake Region Healthcare. She enjoyed going to the lake cabin and casinos, cooking, gardening, and loved spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored. She was a strong, independent woman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Paul “Buzz” Anderson in 2009.
Patty is survived by her children, Julie Bjerkness of Eden Prairie, Jennifer (fiance, David) Anderson of Fergus Falls and Todd (Giovana) Anderson of Fergus Falls; a granddaughter, Jade; six grandsons, Joey, Gavan, Isaac, Luke, Jordan, and Adam; her sisters, Judy McDonough of Alexandria and Bonnie (Jim) Raschke of Hastings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Service: 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February, 8, 2017, at the Olson Funeral Home Chapel
