Patrick “Iron Pat” Allen Hult, 69, a resident of rural Battle Lake, died Monday, May 21, 2018, at his home under the care of LB Hospice.
He was born on February 23, 1949, to Donald H. and Margaret E. (Frederick) Hult in Fergus Falls, MN. Patrick graduated from Battle Lake High School in 1967.
Patrick served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War for 2 ½ years. During his service, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge with M-14, Overseas Service Bar, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Patrick worked a few jobs after an honorable discharge from the Army. He was employed by McCaslin and Peavey Elevator in Barnesville, and also spent 6 years working with RV’s in California, then was the rigging shop manager at a marine in Ottertail for the next 13 years. He retired from Jennie-O Feed Mill in Henning.
He was a member of the VFW in Barnesville, MN. Patrick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Donald and Margaret; and his wife, Renae Hult.
Survivors include his children, Sandra Sherman of Fargo, ND, Sean Hult of Moorhead, MN, and Tammie (Lipska) Bakko of Fargo, ND; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bette (Les) Bensch, Mike (Marte) Hult, Carole (Ron) Runningen; as well as several nieces and nephews.
