Patricia Anne Overby, 93, a resident of Battle Lake, passed away peacefully the morning of August 30, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Home in Battle Lake.
She was born March 22, 1920, to Shannen and Justine Hartzell. She grew up in Fort Worth Texas, attending Our Lady of Victory Catholic School.
Pat followed in her mother's footsteps by becoming an army nurse and served overseas during World War II. It was there she met her future husband, Capt. Theodore E. Overby, of Madison, MN. They were united in marriage on December 29, 1945. The couple resided in Madison where they raised their seven children. Since 1956 Pat has enjoyed many summers at her family cabin on Blanche Lake. Most recently she was a resident of the Good Samaritan Home in Battle Lake.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ted, her parents, a sister and a brother. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Elizabeth Markey.
Pat is survived by her sister, Betty Coffee, her children, Dr. Chuck Overby (Maggie), Katy Kise, Meme Krueger (George), Richard (Mat Buckingham), and John, Paul (Patti). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Her joy of life, strong faith and creative spirit were an incredible inspiration to all of us. "May the Blessing of the Lord be upon you…"
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013 with a public prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mass of Christian Burial: 3 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2013 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Battle Lake, MN.
