Otto Lamay Anderson Jr., 81, a resident of Fergus Falls died Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. He was born November 24, 1930, in Dalton, Minnesota, the son of Otto Sr. and May (Johnson) Anderson. He attended school at District #7 in Tumuli Township. On July 4, 1953, he married Lois Johnson in Browns Valley, Minnesota. He worked for Minnesota Motor Company for 50 years as the head painter in the body shop. After his retirement he worked for the City of Fergus Falls for three summers. Otto “Junior” was a kind and caring man who was a very dedicated husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather. In his younger years you could find him ski jumping at various competitions around the area with the Dalton Ski Club. He played church softball for Zion Church, and loved playing baseball with the neighborhood kids. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors duck hunting – especially for Bluebills by Dalton, fishing on his favorite lake, Clear Lake, by Dalton and gardening. As a hobby he would grow sweet corn. Through the years he’s been a huge sports fan, supporting his three boys and grandchildren as they participated in various sports. The Minnesota Vikings and Twins were his favorite teams to watch and he never missed a game on TV or the radio. He enjoyed fixing old Allis Chalmers tractors. He also enjoyed deer hunting on Pat Peck’s farm by Pelican Rapids with his sons and daughter-in-law, and fishing after work with his son and Dave Kropp. Preceding him in death were his parents, and two brothers, Jim (Shirley) Anderson and Ronald Anderson. Survivors include his wife, Lois Anderson, of Fergus Falls; three sons: Steve (Barb Randolph-) Anderson of Hopkins, MN, and Rick (Renae) Anderson and Mark (Tamara) Anderson, all of Fergus Falls; six grandchildren: Katie Anderson, Ashley Anderson, Dan Anderson, Mike Walls, Dustin Walls, and Tyler Walls; seven great-grandchildren: Jaxon, Houston, Garrett, Calyen, Randi, Lexi, and Kaelyn; and his pet cat, Sassy. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
