Orvin Rustad

Orvin A. Rustad, 81, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, April 16, 2009, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He was born August 8, 1927, in Ashby, Minnesota, the son of Ole and Anna (Anderson) Rustad. He was baptized and confirmed at Pelican Lake Church, Ashby, and attended School District #9 in Grant County. After serving in the U. S. Army from 1952 – 1954, Orvin became a plasterer and was considered a master craftsman in his trade. He continued in this profession until he retired at age 70. Orvin was united in marriage to JoAnne Nelson on October 12, 1957, and they settled in Fergus Falls. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, and he loved to share his produce with others. He also loved to converse with friends and relatives over a cup of coffee. Orvin was a gentle man who loved his Lord. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls for more than 50 years. Preceding him in death were his parents, and two brothers, Carlton Rustad and Richard Rustad. Survivors include his wife, JoAnne of Fergus Falls; daughter, Debra Rustad of Bloomington; son, David (Lynne) Rustad of St. Paul; two grandsons, Mark and Luke Rustad of St. Paul; sisters, Sylvia Rustad and Betty Rustad of Fergus Falls; brothers, Russell (Nola) Rustad of Parkers Prairie, and Paul Rustad of Fergus Falls; sister-in-law, Marlene Rustad of Tower; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation:  2 – 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
