Orlin Hovland

Orlin Hovland Orlin Francis Hovland, 64, of Rothsay, MN, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 19, 2007. Orlin was born in Fergus Falls, MN on May 7, 1943, the son of Oliver and Inez (Zimmerman) Hovland. He was baptized at Friborg Lutheran Church and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Rothsay, MN. He graduated from Rothsay High School in 1961 and received a degree in Medical Laboratory Technology in 1965 from Moorhead State College. He worked as a laboratory technologist at Lake Region Hospital until 1978. From 1978 until the present time he has been the Laboratory Manager at the Fergus Falls Medical Group. He also worked as a Security Guard at the Lake Region Hospital and has farmed the family farm since 1978. He married Connie Lee Schroeder on August 2, 1968. On December 1, 1978, he married Barbara Molter of Fergus Falls, MN. Orlin enjoyed the outdoors, farming, hunting, fishing and traveling, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was well known for helping out friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two daughters: Denise (Robb) Koukal, of Woodbury, MN, and Michele Naab, of Mora, MN; one step son Joe (Teanna) Molter of Rothsay; seven grandchildren: Jared and Jakob Koukal, Hunter and Hailey Naab, Cody, Brady and Sydnie Molter; two sisters, Beverly (Dave) Muchow, of Mesa, AZ, and Barbara (William) Nitz of Rothsay; Barb?s siblings: Ferd (Ann) DeHate, of Plummer, MN, and Janie (Jim) Hurlock, of NV; Barb?s foster family: Virginia Ecker, Judy (Bruce) Glorvigen, Sue (Tim) Pardy, and Greg (Barb) Ecker all of Fergus Falls, MN. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Christy Lee, his parents Oliver and Inez, Barb?s siblings Susan Buchholz and Bruce Winslow and Barb?s foster father Jim Ecker. Visitation:     5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at                the church.
