Obert Howard Houg, 82, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at his home.
Obert was born on May 13, 1933, to Otto and Anne (Dahlen) Houg in Fergus Falls. He attended country school in rural Carlisle. At the age of fifteen, he took over the family farm.
On January 3, 1959, he married Mary Lacey at Lawrence Presbyterian Church, in rural Wendell, MN. He was a dairy farmer, heavy equipment operator with Hodgeman, a landscaper and gravel truck owner/operator. He retired at the age of 69, and was a proud co-founder of “The Club.”
Obert was a former member of the Elks Club and a long-time member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. He enjoyed softball, deer hunting, shooting pool, classic cars and hanging out at “The Club.”
He was preceded in death by his parents Otto and Anne Houg; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Torson, Jr.
Obert is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Mary Houg of Fergus Falls; his daughters, Sally (Dean) Dullum of Harwood, ND and Jill (Jason) Gustofson of West Fargo, ND; his grandchildren, Suzanne, Samantha and Stephanie Dullum and Justin and Jeremy Gustofson; and a sister, Ruth Torson of Moorhead.
Visitation: 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, January 15, 2015, at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls and one hour prior to the service on Saturday
