Norman Albert Craig, 88, a resident of Erhard, died Saturday, September 10, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Norman was born on April 29, 1928, in Fergus Falls, the son of Richard C. and Regina (Harles) Craig. He attended school in Fergus Falls. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1950 and was granted a hardship discharge.
On November 28, 1950, Norman married Elizabeth Ann Lehn in Elizabeth. Norman worked at the shipyards and Boeing in 1951. In 1954, they moved to Colfax, ND, where he worked on the railroad and ran a pub. Betty and Norm moved to Battle Lake in 1958, where they owned and operated the “78 Club” until 1975. Lastly, Norm worked for the State of Minnesota at the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center for twenty-eight years, retiring in 1980.
Norm was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Elizabeth and the Minnesota State Employee Association. He enjoyed four-wheeling, being outdoors and mowing the lawn. He also enjoyed the companionship of his African Grey Parrots, Dusty and Friday.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Regina Craig; his wife, Elizabeth Craig; an infant son, Robert; his step-father, Weldon McIntosh; and great-grandsons, Forrest and Christian Rollie.
Norman is survived by his children, Teresa (James) Lindenfelser of Erhard, Patricia (Daniel) Rollie of Erhard, Richard Craig of Erhard, Norma (Keith) Kragerud of Moorhead, Russell (Lori) Craig of Erhard, Mary Craig of Tuscon, AZ, and Lynette Heldt of Pelican Rapids; thirteen grandchildren, Kari (Shane) Kasowski, Nicole (Ivan) Greenlund, Brent (Meghan) Lindenfelser, Justin Rollie, Erik (Erin Frantz) Rollie, Alicia (Justin) Olson, Christa (Tony) Wegscheid, Paige (Alex Johnston) Heldt, Erin Craig, Alexis Craig, Matthew (Lisa) Milbeck, Mark (Samantha) Milbeck, and Melissa (Chad Norgren) Milbeck; seventeen great-grandchildren, Madison, Karter, Finley, Claire, Annika, Gretta, Chase, Isabel, Mira, Calvin, Deklan, Isabella, Isaiah, Emma, Lillian, Ruby and Henry; and numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.
