Norma A. Samuelson

March 5, 1935 — August 4, 2018

Norma Audrey Samuelson, age 83, of Fergus Falls, died on Saturday August 4, 2018 at Park Gardens.

Norma was born on March 5, 1935 in Alexandra to Robert and Helga (Linder) Jelsing.

Growing up she worked at A&W serving food on roller skates and worked with the nuns at the Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Alexandria in the laundry department often speaking about her favorite nun Sister Julie Anna. The nuns were a big inspiration to her.

She married Dennis Samuelson on January 12, 1958 in Alexandria. The couple moved to the Samuelson family farm in Eagle Lake Township where they lived for 55 years. She worked as a housewife making sure everything was in order and beautiful around the farm along with taking care of Dennis’s parents and others that visited.

Working at her daughter’s salon as a receptionist in 1988 was one of her favorite jobs. She was the type of person who could do almost anything around the salon and noticed when items needed to be done. Always smiling and greeting everyone who came in. She was always the silly grandma that could really make the grandkids laugh at any age. Her love for her grandchildren was shown by babysitting, cooking, being at their events and anything else that you could image.

Norma enjoyed visiting family whether it was in her hometown of Alexandria or up the North Shore to Grand Marias. She spent many hours talking and laughing with family. Some of her hobbies were quilting, knitting, armed cross stitching, feeding the birds, embroidery, reading, listening to music, entertaining, photography, baking and gardening where she had a statue of St. Francis. Her love for animals was compassionate.

Preceding her in death were her parents; baby sister, Norma; sister, Thelma; and many animals that she adored so much.

Survivors include her husband; children, De Dee (Tim) Moore of Underwood, Stacy (Scott) Schauff of Battle Lake, sisters; June Stienle of Alexandria and Helen Fahrenholz of Alexandria; four grandchildren, Brittany (Eli) Pachel of Moorhead, Patrick (fiancé Jen Hoffman) Moore of Battle Lake, Megan (Ryan) Carlson of Fergus Falls and Morgan Schauff of Fergus Falls; five great-grandchildren, Jamison and Lyndee Pachel, Harper Hoffman and Chloe and Maren Carlson; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
