Noreen Elizabeth Houston, 78, a resident of Fergus Falls, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016, at her home surrounded by family, after losing her battle to lung cancer.
She was born on May 17, 1938, in Devils Lake, ND, the daughter of John Henry II and Nora (Hall) Landsiedel. They lived in Starkweather, ND, until the death of her father at the age of 8 when they moved to Parshall, ND, where she graduated from high school in 1956.
After moving to Fergus Falls in the late 1950’s she worked at Lake Region Hospital for many years as a front-end receptionist and in the insurance department. Noreen ended her working career as a receptionist for Dr. Greenagel and Dr. Rude Dental Office.
On July 21, 1974, Noreen married Michael (Mike) Houston in Las Vegas, NV.
Noreen loved to visit daily on the phone with her daughters and grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting and reading. Noreen was a long-time member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Lakeland Hospice and Lake Region Healthcare Cancer Center for their constant care and compassion. It brought great comfort to Noreen and her family.
Family members preceding in death include her parents and her brother, John.
Surviving members include her husband, Michael; daughters, Tara (Gabe) Chavez of Covina, CA and Traci (Brian) Neuser of Covina, CA; four grandchildren; Georgiana, Thomas, Francesca, and Hannah; her sister, Mary (James) Graf of Fergus Falls; sister-in-law, Phyllis Landsiedel of Minot, ND; brothers-in-law, Robert (Stevie) Houston of Anthem, AZ, and James Houston of Roseville, several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church
Mass of Christian Burial: 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2016 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church
Clergy: Father Alan Wielinski, Father Bill Gamber, and Deacon Chuck Kampa
Internment: Private family burial at a later date
