Nobel Holte

Nobel Edwin Holte, 92, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. He was born February 5, 1918, in Tumuli Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota, the son of Andrew and Turi (Ronningen) Holte. He grew up on the family farm, attending school at District #139, and later Park Region Model School in Fergus Falls (now Hillcrest).  On October 7, 1945, he married Margaret Ruth Frikken at Hjerdahl Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake. He farmed on the family farm – grain and livestock. Margaret passed away in June 1971. On May 29, 1976, he married Maxine (Landmark) Christianson at the Nazarene Church in Fergus Falls. They continued to farm south of Fergus Falls until retiring in 1994. Maxine passed away in September 2002. Nobel moved to Park Gardens in Fergus Falls in July of 2007, and to the Broen Home in September 2010. He was a past member of Hjerdahl Lutheran Church, rural Elbow Lake, Rock Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Elbow Lake, and was currently a member of Aastad Lutheran Church, rural Fergus Falls. He served various positions on the church boards. He was also a member of the Senior Citizens in Dalton.  Nobel enjoyed square dancing with Margaret, gardening, playing cards, playing his harmonica, and visiting with family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and keeping up with their activities. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wives, Margaret and Maxine; three brothers, Elmer (Hilda) Holte, Martin (Laura) Holte, and Henry (Evelyn) Holte; and four sisters, Amanda (Elmer) Haarstad, Marie (Elmer) Christiansen, Anna (Erwin) Thorness, and Mabel (Palmer) Fronning. Survivors include his children, Michael (Margaret) Holte of Wendell, Charles (Deanna) Holte of Ashby, Mary (Gary) Lien of Fergus Falls, and Donald Holte of Fergus Falls; stepsons, Terry Christianson and family, and Jeff Christianson and family; nine grandchildren: David (Karen) Holte, Diahann (David) Schaefer, Jennifer (Paul) Johnsrud, Joel Holte (friend Heidi Ament), Jacqueline (Jeremy) Anderson, Matthew (Angela) Lien, Nathan Lien, Kaylee Holte, and Samantha Holte; nine great-grandchildren: Kyle Weets (fiancé Amy Amenrud), Kerby Weets, Elli Johnsrud, Ethan Johnsrud, Blaine Holte, Lukas Anderson, Noah Anderson, Madison Lien, and Brady Lien; sisters-in-law, Adeline Holte, Jo Langmack, and Phyllis Frikken; a brother-in-law, Art Jensen; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church Service: 1 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2010, at Rock Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Elbow Lake Clergy: The Rev.
