Neil P. Hunter, 69, a resident of Erhard, died Sunday, February 01, 2015 at his home.
He was born on August 4, 1945 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the son of Kenneth and Iris (Jones) Hunter. He attended Underwood High School, graduating in 1963.
On July 22, 2004 he was united in marriage to Virginia “Ginny” Boese in Sisseton, SD.
Neil worked for Honey Well in Minneapolis, then moved to Erhard area and worked for Olson’s Furniture and Dahlstrom Carpet before starting his own business in floor covering and also working several side jobs in the area. He worked in floor coverings for 44 years until health problems wouldn’t allow it. Neil was also the Mayor of Erhard until he resigned.
He enjoyed stock car racing, bird watching, including his favorite purple martins and loved to spend time with his family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Ray; sister, Barb; sister-in-law, Barb.
Neil is survived by his wife, Ginny of Erhard; children, Jeff (Shannon) of Fergus Falls, Dean (Tina) of Menahga, Bryan of Oklahoma and Travis (Dana) of Menahga; step-children, Tim Johnson of Fergus Falls and Michelle (Steve) Seggermann of Fergus Falls; 14 grandchildren; 1 step-grandchild; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Brenda) Hunter of Underwood, brothers-in-law, Gehard (Brenda) Hanson and Wally and Cliff Boese; sister-in-law, Lucille (Ron) Stadum. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
