Ned Jimmerson

Ned Phillip Jimmerson, 59, a resident of rural Underwood, died Monday, December 8, 2008 at his home. He was born February 25, 1949, in Glenwood, Minnesota, the son of Phillip and Minerva (Tanhoff) Jimmerson. He graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1967. In 1971 he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota – Morris.  On September 1, 1989, he married Mary Goken at Phelps Mill, MN. Ned was a partner for a tobacco and pipe shop in Fergus Falls in the early ‘80s, as well as a gunsmith and gemsetter. He later enjoyed working at Everett’s Lumber in Battle Lake, where he retired in 2005 after surviving a major stroke. He loved, and was loved by, his family and friends. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, First Lutheran Church, the Master Gardeners, the Screen Actors Guild, the Underwood School Board, the Center Singers and Geneva Eschweiler Singers.  Ned loved a variety of hobbies, including genealogy, drafting, hockey, hunting, home brewing, spending time outside, theatre and acting. He produced plays and appeared in the original production of “Vikings!” He was a fantastic cook. He also loved vacationing in Ontario. Preceding him in death were his parents, and a sister, Michelle Hovelsrud. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jimmerson, of Underwood; five children: Erin Stojan (Anthony) Ruccolo of St. Paul, Holly Stojan (Charles Weiss), St. Paul, James (DeAnna) Stojan, Raleigh, NC, Jonathan (Amanda) Stojan, Summerville, SC, and Robert Stojan, Plymouth; a grandson, Grant Henry Stojan; three sisters: Bonnie (Ken) Warner, Denver, CO; Julie Jimmerson, Fergus Falls, and Betsy (Paul) Muelhausen, Missoula, MT; a niece, Emily Muelhausen; a nephew, Liam Muelhausen; aunts, Katherine Jimmerson, Erma (Irvin) Bjornson, and Norma (Roger) Gearhart; and numerous cousins. There will be a time to greet family and friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A Memorial Service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls with Father LeRoy Schik officiating. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Fergus Falls. Assistance was provided by Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls.
