Naomi Larson Nelson

Naomi Jane Nelson, 50, of Scottsdale, Arizona, formerly of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, October 24, 2013, at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo, North Dakota.

She was born February 14, 1963, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, the daughter of Paul and Betty (Michaelson) Larson. She grew up in Fergus Falls where she attended Adams Elementary School and Fergus Falls High School, graduating in 1981. She later attended the University of Minnesota, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources in 2002.

Naomi worked for several years in the restaurant industry where she utilized her people skills and quickly rose to management level. Most recently she worked for a few years in the banking industry with Chase Bank.

Naomi was always an athlete. She held the record for most rebounds in a single game at Fergus Falls High School for many years. She loved running, biking and most forms of physical fitness. On most days she could be found poolside with a good book or decorating her house.

Survivors include her children, Jessica (Chase) McCray of St. Joseph MI, Julia Nelson of Woodbury MN, and Johnathan Nelson of St. Joseph MI; grandchildren, Lily, Wyatt and Wynn McCray; her parents, Paul and Betty Larson; and her siblings, Tom and Angi Larson and their family Joshua Larson, Caleb and Sarah Larson and children Kaylen and Rhys Larson, Wynn and Anna Roberts, and Joe Larson, Rob and Becca Ketterling and their children Connor and Logan Ketterling, Hung and Huyen Le and their child Dylan Le, and Minh and Jasmine Le and their children Christopher and Bianca Le.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2013, at 2 p.m. at River Valley Church in Apple Valley, Minnesota.

Arrangements are with the Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls.
