Myrtle "Maggie" Lee Wardle

Myrtle Lee “Maggie” Wardle, 96, of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, January 1, 2017, at The Pioneer Senior Cottages in Fergus Falls.

Myrtle was born December 24, 1920, to Garrett Hatcher and Ethel (Byard) Rose in Clarksville, TN. After high school graduation, she attended college and was a social worker for the State of Florida and was also the director of the Animal Humane Society in Franklin, NC. Myrtle was married to Henry “Tim” Wardle and enjoyed reading, rescuing animals and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Phillip and Charles “Bill” Riley; a stepson, Buddy Riley; and a sister, Catherine (Ginny) Durham.

Myrtle is survived by her grandchildren, Amanda (Nick) Hunt; Geoffrey (Tevin) Riley, Melody Martel, Sharon (Mike) Riley, Lynn (Randy) Moffitt, John (Becky) Riley and Christopher (Britain) Riley; her great-grandchildren, Zach Walters, Brandon Biaesch, Autumn Riley, Robert Moffitt, Michael Moffitt, Hunter Riley, Jonathan Riley and a new great-granddaughter, Aspen, due any day; and two daughters-in-law, Shirley Riley and Anita Riley.

Memorials are preferred to the Appalachian Animal Rescue at 851 Lake Emory Road, Franklin, NC, 28734, or the Otter Tail County Humane Society at 1933 West Fir Avenue, Fergus Falls, MN, 56537.
