Myrtle Luella Leitch

Myrtle Luella Leitch, 89, of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, September 9, 2017 at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls, MN.

Myrtle was born on October 13, 1927 in Henning, MN the daughter of Theodore and LuLu (Eggleston) Waskosky. She grew up on the family farm in Henning, MN and attended Henning school through the 8th grade.

On February 20, 1945, she married Arvid Leitch in Battle Lake, MN. They purchased a dairy farm in May of 1945 and this is where they raised their 6 children. In 1968, they purchased the Lawrence Erickson farm where they lived until moving to Tamarac Manor in 1986, where Myrtle lived for 22 years. In 2008, she moved to Park Gardens and in 2015 she moved to PioneerCare where she lived until her passing.

She was a member of Sverdrup Lutheran Church in Underwood and also participated in Ladies Aid. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and in her later years travelling.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Arvid; son, Ronnie; brothers, Ted, Roy, Martin, Clifford and Woodrow, who died in infancy; two brothers-in-law, Julius Thorson and Harold Brekke, two sisters-in-law, Helen Waskosky and Eunice Waskosky, and a grandson Timothy who died in infancy.

Survivors include her daughters, Charlotte (Vernie) Pederson of Underwood, Lil (Marty) Martin of Gillette, Wyoming, Charlene Leitch of Black Canyon City, AZ; sons, Mike Leitch of Underwood, and John Leitch of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Keith (Denise) Pederson of Underwood, Pam Pederson of Underwood, Pat (Bobbi) Kiser of OR, Julie (friend Chad) Linder of WY, Adain “JR” (Stacey) Martin Jr. of Gillette, WY, Jason (Sarah) Nelson of Underwood, Cody (Dana) Nelson of CO, Tessa Washek of Battle Lake; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Shelby Skinnemoen, Garrett, Emylee and James Kiser, Ashley and Marty Lemke, Allyson and Mark Kiser, Devon, Friedly, Alissa, Sheldon and Mason Martin, Maddi and Logan Nelson, Ramsey Nelson, Riley Olson, Carly Limric, Makia Naylor; great-great grandchildren, Amya, Analeigh and Andreas Kiser, Jesslinn and Jaelynn Kiser; two sisters, Rose Thorson of Henning, Doris Brekke of Billings, MT; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Waskosky of Henning. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.


Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2017, with a public prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the Olson Funeral Home. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
