Myrtle Keller

Myrtle (Myrt) Keller was born at her parents’, Henry and Alida Budke, home on January 21, 1929, the second of nine children. She attended grade school at various country schools, later on attending Fergus Falls High School. On October 20, 1948, Myrtle was united in marriage to Cyril Keller at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls. During their marriage they lived in Elbow Lake, MN; Rothsay, MN; Gwinner, ND; and in 1985, they moved to their current home in Fergus Falls spending their summers at their lake cabin on Otter Tail Lake. Together Myrtle and Cyril raised their family of eight children. Throughout her life, she kept active in church club, Christian Mothers and the Sewing Club. She enjoyed the weekly get together with her sisters, her flower gardens, baking and reading. Her pride and joy was her children and grandchildren. Myrtle will be deeply missed by those who were blessed to have known her. She loved people stopping by and could pull out an assortment of homemade goodies that would make your mouth water. Myrtle died peacefully, November 23, 2008, at Lake Region Hospital, Fergus Falls, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband, Cyril; six daughters, Sharon (Mick) Maddock, Gwinner, ND; Linda (Dan) Bettin, Breckenridge, MN; Dawn (Joe) Johnson, Terlton, OK; Bonnie (Curt) Kretchman, Wahpeton, ND; Jane (Grant) Tweed, Tolna, ND; Ann (Mark) Foner, Glenwood, MN; and two sons, Allen (Judy) Keller, Gwinner, ND and Gary (Lola) Keller, Pelican Rapids, MN; 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Mervin (Ervina) Budke of Fergus Falls, Donald (Kathy) Budke of Underwood, and Gerald (Renee`) Budke of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters: JoAnn (Errol) Kugler of Erhard, and Rose Mary (Donald) Rasmusson of Fergus Falls, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Alida Budke; sisters, Ann and Marcella and a brother, Roy.
