Myron Gene Hexum, 76, a resident of rural Rothsay, was called home to heaven on Saturday, July 21, 2012, after a brief struggle with fibrosis of the lungs. He died peacefully at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo with his family by his side. He was born July 18, 1936, in Rothsay, Minnesota, the son of Melvin and Gunda (Wee) Hexum. He was baptized and confirmed at Hamar Lutheran Church in Rothsay. He graduated from Rothsay High School in 1954. On August 9, 1958, he was united in marriage to JoAnn Lysne. They have lived on the Hexum farm for 51 years where they raised their family. Myron worked as a truck driver for most of his life. He worked for Gerald Evenson Trucking, Fosse Transport, Northern Grain, and most recently for the Kragnes Elevator. He was a member of New Life Lutheran Church in Rothsay. Myron loved to visit with his friends and relatives. He liked to spend his spare time playing cards, watching the Minnesota Twins, and being invited to Warren and Janice’s for fish suppers. He also enjoyed family holidays and get-togethers. His family meant a lot to him. Preceding him in death were his parents; siblings: Errol Hexum, Robert Hexum, and Carol Ouren-Anderson; sisters-in-law: Joyce Hexum, Barbara Hexum, and Carol Hexum; brothers-in-law: Harold Ouren and Irvin Anderson; and nieces Denise Ouren and Marilyn Honer. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, JoAnn; his sons: Kevin (Sheryl) Hexum, and Kirk (Marci) Hexum, all of Fergus Falls; his daughters: Wanda (Allen) Flatin of Rothsay, and Jodi Christianson of Sabin, MN; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his siblings: Harold Hexum of Fergus Falls, Richard (Carolyn) Hexum of Eugene, OR, and Kay (Arnold) Moen of Rothsay; numerous nieces and nephews; and his precious collie, Laddie. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Friday at the church with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church. Service: 1 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, at New Life Lutheran Church in Rothsay Clergy: Reverend Paul Huso There will be a private family burial at a later date.
