Monica M. Uhlmann

Monica Mary Uhlmann, 68, of Underwood, died Sunday, February 12, 2017, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.

Monica was born on February 13, 1948, to Lt. Col. Stephen and Monica (Oboyle) Jacobs in Port Huron, MI. She graduated from Preble High School in 1966.

On December 22, 1985, Monica was united in marriage to John Arthur Uhlmann in Newton, NJ. The couple lived for a time in New Jersey, and Ham Lake, MN. In 1993, they moved to Stalker lake in rural Underwood. Monica was the secretary at Sverdrup Lutheran Church in Underwood for over twenty years.

Monica was a member of Sverdrup Lutheran Church, the Underwood city council and had passion for community involvement. She enjoyed time sewing, crafting and mostly importantly, spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, John Uhlmann on January 2, 2001.

Monica is survived by her children, Erica Uhlmann of Fargo, ND, Amanda (Chad Cordell) Uhlmann of Vale, SD, Jeff (Christine) Kasten of Big Lake, MN, Scott (Jennifer) Kasten of Wyoming, MN, and Andy (Nicole) Kasten of Green Bay, WI; six grandchildren, Presley Kasten, Memphis Kasten, Annika Kasten, Isabella Kasten, Adam Kasten and Skyler Kasten; her sisters, Brenda (Robert) Flemal, Marcia (the late Tom) Derezinski, Stephanie (Dan) Bader, and Priscilla (Mark) Demoulin; a brother, Jim (Jody) Jacobs; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to JDRF.org or the Underwood Community Education Foundation.

Visitation: 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday, February 17, 2017, at Olson Funeral Home with a public prayer service at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
