Minnie Caroline Swendsrud, 104 years, five months and 20 days old, and a resident of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, November 21, 2010, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. She was born June 1, 1906, at her home in Tordenskjold Township, near Underwood, Minnesota, the daughter of Lewis and Martha (Loftus) Albertson. She was the 7th of 13 children, and was delivered by her grandmother. She was baptized on July 15, 1906 at Tordenskjold Lutheran Church where she was also confirmed. She attended school at District #162. Minnie worked for a time at the Henning Hotel. While she was working at the Sanford Skrove farm she met her future husband, Ingvald Swendsrud. They were married at the church parsonage on December 8, 1935. The couple had two children, Sybil Ione who was born November 18, 1936, and Ardell who was born March 28, 1941. Minnie and Ingvald farmed in the Tordenskjold and Dane Prairie area until Ingvald suffered a stroke in 1957. At that time they moved into Dalton. Ingvald passed away on September 24, 1971. Minnie later worked at the Dalton Creamery, the Dalton Locker, and Medallion Kitchens. She moved to the Broen Home in December of 2002. She was a member of Our Saviors-Ten Mile Lake Lutheran Church in Dalton. Preceding her in death were her parents, all but one sibling, her husband, Ingvald, and her daughter, Sybil on May 7, 1997. Survivors include her son, Ardell (Sue) Swendsrud of Sheffield, Alabama; three grandchildren: Randy Swendsrud of Fergus Falls, Rick (Kris) Swendsrud of Fergus Falls, and Mindy (Jason) Ott of Downer; six great-grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter; 1 step-great grandchild; a brother, George Albertson of the Broen Home in Fergus Falls; a sister-in-law, Bessie Swendsrud of Underwood; and several nieces and nephews.
