Minnie Mobroten

August 24, 1905 — November 23, 2008

Minnie Mobroten, 103, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, November 23, 2008, at the Pioneer Retirement Community in Fergus Falls.  She was born August 24, 1905, in Elizabeth Township of Otter Tail County, the daughter of Julius and Betsy (Lokker) Mobroten. She was baptized and confirmed at the Tonseth Lutheran Church in rural Erhard. She attended elementary school at District #36 in Otter Tail County. She graduated from Park Region College Academy in 1926, and teachers training in 1927. She taught rural school in the county from 1927 – 1936. She was employed as a sewing teacher and demonstrator at Singer Sewing Machine Company for short time until becoming employed in the drapery department in sales and service at O’Meara’s Store in Fergus Falls, where she worked until her retirement. In earlier years, Minnie was active at the Tonseth Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school and working with the youth organizations. She was currently a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was a circle member, and was also a member of AARP and the Senior Citizens. Preceding her in death were her parents, Betsy and Julius; two brothers, Albert Mobroten and Peter (Gertie Opsahl) Mobroten; two sisters, Gertie (Albert) Hysjulien and Tillie Mobroten; and a foster nephew, Phillip Lunstad. She is survived by numerous cousins.
