Millan “Mike” Eckley, 83, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, December 18, 2008, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. He was born July 24, 1925, in Rolette, North Dakota, the son of Olaf O. and Clara O. (Rude) Eckley. He grew up on a farm, attending school in Nanson, North Dakota. In November of 1941 he moved to the farm in Fergus Falls Township. In addition to farming, Mike worked for Central Bi-Products for 21 years, retiring on July 31, 1987. He also did odd jobs around the area. He moved from the farm to the Silver Leaf Apartments in June of 2007. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Mike enjoyed gardening, farming, bowling, fishing, and golf. He especially enjoyed all the gatherings with family and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, Clinton, John, and Bob; his sister, Marlys Franck; and a nephew, Bruce Eckley. Survivors include his siblings: Allan (Irene) Eckley, Myrtle Carlson, Eldora (Bob) Schreiber, Gary (Shirley) Eckley, and Pat (Jim) Johnson, all of Fergus Falls, and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
