Michael Robert Burley, 57, of Erhard, died Thursday, October 31, 2013, at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls.
Michael was born on February 27, 1956 in Two Harbors, OR, the son of Theodore and Violet (Galbreath) Burley. He grew up travelling with his family during his childhood and eventually came to reside in the Fergus Falls area. In 1975 he met his life partner Mary Beth Homes.
Mike and Mary moved to Minneapolis and lived there for 12 years, where they built a life together and started a family. In 1990 they moved their family back to the Fergus Falls area. For the last 23 years they have lived in Erhard, raising their four daughters.
Michael was a self- employed carpenter. He enjoyed spending his spare time outdoors and with family and friends. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, nature walking, swimming and riding his motorcycle.
Preceding him in death was his mother, Violet Burley; brother, Patrick J. Burley and nephew, Jason Kelm.
Survivors include his life partner of 35 years, Mary Homes of Erhard; daughters, Amy (Cory Dingman) Burley of Erhard, Michele (Shane) Burley-Shepherd of Fergus Falls, Alaina Burley of Dent, Sophie (Rob Lindeman) Burley of Erhard; grandchildren, James Ard, Lilly Dingman, Nathan, Natalie, Nolan, Nevaeh Ard, Kodey Burley; father, Theodore Burley of Fergus Falls, sister, Linda (Mark Lee) Burley of Fergus Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Maplewood Lutheran Church, 25752 County Highway 24, Erhard, MN 56534.
