Michael Bjornson

Michael R. Bjornson, 64, of Dalton, died Monday, December 5, 2022 at Unity Hospital in Grafton, ND.

Michael Rodney Bjornson was born October 23, 1958 to Kermit and Helen (Krebs) Bjornson in Detroit Lakes, MN. He attended school in Hawley and graduated from Hawley High School in 1977. After high school he attended Detroit Lakes Tech. He enlisted in the National Guard.

On December 14, 1991, Mike married June Rude in Audubon, MN.

Mike started out siding homes and eventually bought his own equipment and started his own siding business, installing ABC Seamless siding. He also worked with June’s brothers in Jamestown, ND. Eventually he received his CDL and became a truck driver and has worked for Cliff Viessman Company for the past 26 years.

He was a member of Grue Lutheran Church in Ashby. He enjoyed spending time with his family, he was especially proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed sharing their accomplishments. He also loved fishing, hunting, camping, riding his motorcycle, and talking on the phone. He was a truck driver and called his wife and daughter many times every day. He also called other family and friends many times a day. He enjoyed his hunting trips with his brother, Randy and nephews, Jake and Adam; many stories were told. He also enjoyed numerous fishing trips with his brother Randy, nephew Jake, and cousins Tim, Jeff, and Terry. He was looking forward to an upcoming trip to Canada.

Preceding him in death were his father, Kermit Bjornson; mother, Helen Bjornson; step-daughter, Melissa Aasberg; parents-in-law, Kalmer and Mayma Rude; June’s siblings, ReCal Nygard, Kenny Rude, Calmer Rude, Howard Rude, Leo Rude, Gene Rude, Norman Rude, Keith Rude, Violet Spenst, and June’s nephew, Bobby Spenst.

Mike is survived by his wife, June Bjornson of Dalton; children, Jade Bjornson of Dalton, Lauri Aasberg of Fergus Falls, Brian Aasberg of Fergus Falls, and Kathy (Chad) VanSanten of Ashby, and grandchildren, Madison VanSanten (Dalon Bitzan) of Battle Lake, Michael (Heather) VanSanten of Moorhead, Brady (MaKayla) Tabery of Evansville, Danica, Brison, and Cason Aasberg of Elbow Lake, and Sade, Neelow, Deanna, and Sareena Nelson. He was looking forward to his first great-grandchild a baby boy to be born in May 2023. Also surviving are his siblings, Randy (Vicki) Bjornson, Shelly (Dave) Dunham, and Sue (Jon) Rockwell; sister-in-law, Marion (Rude) Rund, and numerous nieces and nephews.


Visitation: 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2022 at Grue Lutheran Church rural Battle Lake, MN.

Interment: St. Olaf Cemetery rural Dalton, MN
