Maynard C. Ott, 81, of Fergus Falls, died Monday, November 28, 2011, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls. He was born July 20, 1930, in Star Lake Township of Otter Tail County, Minnesota, the son of Clarence and Ida (Lange) Ott. He attended school at District #129 in Star Lake Township, and later earned his GED. He worked at National Tea and local jobs around Fergus Falls. He married Marjorie Leth in Clitherall, Minnesota. Maynard served in the U.S. Army for over 20 years, and was stationed in Korea, as well as serving two tours of duty in Viet Nam, retiring in 1977 as a Master Sergeant. Following his discharge he worked at Dynamic Homes and West Central Turkeys. Maynard loved to dance and tell jokes. He enjoyed his relationship with his caregivers, and always had a special place in his heart for children and animals. Preceding him in death were his parents, and his siblings: Clareen Neu, Jacob Ott, Betty Ott, Clinton Ott, and Marla Wischnack. Survivors include his daughters, Nancy Evans of Cheyenne, WY, and Christina Lindely of Fergus Falls; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen (Don) Stoering of Dent, and LaVina Miller of Fergus Falls; a sister-in-law, Helen Ott of Wadsworth, OH; and two brothers-in-law: Clinton Neu of Fergus Falls, and Herb Wischnack of Pelican Rapids. Visitation: 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and resumes one hour prior to the service at the nursing home.
