Matthew Hauge, 30, of Fergus Falls, passed away peacefully at the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota on Thursday, March 21, 2024.
He was born on February 11, 1994, to loving parents Cindy (Hill) and Mark Hauge in Dickinson, North Dakota. He was baptized at Rainbow Valley Lutheran Church near Ray, North Dakota. He was confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Matthew graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 2012, where he loved participating in Track and Field, as well as Robotics. After graduating, he began working at Walmart, eventually switching to the night shift. During this time, he became great friends with many of his co-workers.
Matthew began Tae Kwon Do in the fourth grade and fell in love with it. He worked hard at it and eventually reached the rank of third-degree black belt. He also discovered a love for Kumdo during his training. The day before his 30th birthday he achieved one of his biggest goals and reached the rank of 1st Dan in Kumdo. He was an avid lover of video games and was often seen playing games with his friends and family. He had a big caring heart and an unbeatable wit that never failed to leave people laughing.
In September of 2022 Matthew was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. During his battle with cancer, he ended up needing to have his left leg, hip, and part of his pelvis amputated. He fought his cancer with everything he had over these past few years. Matthew was a warrior, and an inspiration to all who knew him.
He is survived by his parents, Mark and Cindy Hauge; sister, Marinda (Derrick) Pfingsten; his niece, Luna Pfingsten who was the absolute joy of his life; his aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his martial arts family and many friends.
Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, Myron and Gloria Hauge; his maternal grandmother, Patricia Hill, and uncles, Tim Hauge and Doobee Hill.
